Abundantia Verborum
3. Tutorial
3.2 Classifying the data
The basic mechanism for classifying the data of
a case study with Abundantia Verborum is the label
mechanism.
The label mechanism
The label mechanism is the topic of 3.2 Classifying the
data. Basic concepts are explained in
3.2.1 Using labels. Subsequent sections
introduce different techniques for assigning labels to
data. These sections are 3.2.2 Adding labels
via queries, 3.2.3 Adding labels via filters,
3.2.4 Adding labels via zooming and
3.2.5 Manually adding labels. The final
section 3.2.6 Label taxonomies describes
how you can specify hierarchical relationships between labels.
Other types of data classification
Depending on the type of analysis one has in mind, and on the
computer background one has, one may choose for alternative ways
of carrying out the case study. Examples are:
- exporting the workshop to a word processor document,
and using this document, e.g. in printed form, as the basis for
further work
- exporting the workshop to a relational database,
and using this database, e.g. using a relational database management
system, as the basis for further work
The first type of data exportation, that of exporting a
workshop to a word processor document, has been touched
upon very briefly in the final paragraphs of
3.1.2 A first query. The full details of both alternatives,
however, are beyond the scope of this tutorial.
They are documented thoroughly in the online Abundantia Verborum Help.
