TINE BREBAN

Bio and contact Research interests Publications Talks Teaching

Tine Breban's main research interests are the grammaticalization processes affecting adjectives and determiners in the English noun phrase, as well as more theoretical issues concerning grammaticalization such as types of (inter)subjectification, secondary grammaticalization, the role of reanalysis and analogy and most recently construction grammar approaches to grammaticalization. Her research is corpus-based and is framed within functional and cognitive approaches to language such as Systemic Functional Grammar (Halliday 1994), Semiotic Grammar, (McGregor 1997), Cognitive Grammar (Langacker 1987, 1991), Construction Grammar (Croft 2000, 2001) and the cognitive-functional tradition on language change (e.g. Traugott 1989, 1995, 2008).
