Liesbet Heyvaert obtained her MA in Germanic Languages at the University of Leuven in 1994. She also holds the degree of Master of Applied Linguistics (Macquarie University, Sydney, 1996). In 1995, she started working as a researcher and teaching assistant at the University of Leuven, where she completed her PhD on English nominalizations in 2002. From October 2002 to October 2003 she worked as a postdoctoral researcher of the University of Leuven Research Council (PDM/02/034). From October 2003 onwards, she has been working as a postdoctoral researcher of the Fund for Scientific Research-Flanders (FWO). Between 2004 and 2009 Liesbet Heyvaert was also responsible for the English section of the Teacher Training Unit of the K.U.Leuven. She has recently been appointed assistant professor of English language and linguistics (October 2009) and now teaches both in Leuven and at the Kortrijk Campus of the K.U.Leuven. She has published mainly on nominalization and middle formation and is the author of A cognitive-functional approach to nominalization in English, published by Mouton de Gruyter in 2003 (Cognitive Linguistics Research Series 26).
