| An Van linden started her studies
of English and Dutch at the University of Leuven in 2000. In 2003,
she studied one semester as an exchange student at the University
of Aarhus, Denmark. She obtained her MA in July 2004. In October
2004, she was appointed as a researcher to the project The
diachronic evolution of complement constructions in English: Distribution
and motivation and in October 2005 she started on the project
Grammaticalization, emergent grammar
and the English NP. From October 2008 to September 2009, she
worked on the the IAP project P6/44 Grammaticalization
and (inter)subjectification, and the project Optional
ergative marking and the architecture of case systems. In February
2009, she defended her PhD thesis on complementation with modal-evaluative
adjectives, supervised by Hubert Cuyckens
and Jean-Christophe Verstraete. From
2009-2010 she worked as a postdoctoral researcher on a grant from
the Research Council of K.U.Leuven. In October 2010, she started
to work as a postdoctoral fellow of the Research Foundation - Flanders
(FWO) on the project 'Insubordination in the deontic domain: a semantic
and constructional typology' (until September 2013).
